A private equity specialist has joined the board of Peterborough-based BGL Group, the company behind comparethemarket.com.
Katherine Chung has been appointed non-executive director and will represent Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), which owns a 30 per cent stake of BGL Group.
Chung is responsible for CPPIB’s financial services private equity investments in Europe. She joined as senior principal in 2017 and prior to this was a principal as Crestview Partners. She has also worked for Blackstone in New York and London.
Debbie Hewitt, independent non-executive chair at BGL, said: "I am pleased to welcome Katherine to the BGL Board.
"Her extensive experience in insurance and financial services on both sides of the Atlantic will prove invaluable as we develop and grow the group."
Iñaki Echave, who previously represented CPPIB, will remain on the BGL board as an independent non-executive director, having left CPPIB to set up his own investment fund.
